Ania Williamson and graduated in 2006 from the University of the West of England with a First Class degree (hons) in Physiotherapy. She then went on the work as a Rugby Physiotherapist with the London Cornish Rugby Club before embarking on a 15 year career in the NHS. As a Junior Physiotherapist she worked across all specialities, before choosing to concentrate on Musculoskeletal Outpatients from 2008 onwards. Most of her NHS career was spent at the Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust treating all body parts including spinal, shoulder and lower limb injuries and conditions. She left the NHS in 2020 and has been working as a Private Practitioner running Countryside Physiotherapy, as well as holding regular clinics at Ashbourne Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic since. She has completed Masters level training in Advanced Clinical Practice and X-ray, as well as further training on MRI interpretation. She has a special interest in biomechanics and how the way we move affects our body and any injuries you may have.

Most private patients are seen at Ashbourne Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic but in some cases home visits are an option.

Veterinary Physiotherapist

Ania has always been passionate about animals, and in particular horses. She successfully completed a Masters in Veterinary Physiotherapy at the Royal Veterinary College, London in 2011 and has been working with horses, riders and dogs since then. Over the last 12 years Ania has treated countless horses across Derbyshire and the Peak District, and run small animal clinics from various locations including Buxton Vets, Sherwood Canine Hydrotherapy and most recently Ashbourne Canine Hydrotherapy. Whilst horses and dogs are the most common animals she treats, over the years she has seen a wide variety of animals including cats, rabbits and even a skunk called April once!

“All animals can benefit from Physiotherapy – whether they are a loved family pet, working animal, or competition animal”.

She has a caseload of horses and dogs she sees regularly for maintenance Physiotherapy as well as referrals from Veterinary surgeons for specific rehabilitation post surgery or injury.

About me

Ania lives on a beautiful small holding near Carsington Water with her husband, two children, and menagerie of animals. She owns a 19 year old Warmblood Rubin who she competed up to Medium level at British Dressage and is currently enjoying retired life as a happy hacker. Ania also owns Ozzie a lovely British Hannovarian she is currently backing to be her next dancing partner!
